How to improve your dribbling
To improve your dribbling, build close control first with daily ball mastery (toe taps, sole rolls, inside-outside touches), then add change of direction through cone slaloms, then practise moves at game speed against a cone or a friend. Keep the ball within one step, use both feet, and keep your head up between touches.
Dribbling is three skills stacked on top of each other: touch, direction change and deception. Skip the first and the others never work under pressure.
Close control
Ten minutes a day of ball mastery builds the touch everything else depends on.
- Toe taps: 100
- Sole rolls: 2 x 30 seconds each foot
- Inside-outside: 2 x 30 seconds each foot
Change of direction
Set six cones a metre apart. Weave through with the inside and outside of both feet, then with the sole. Speed up only when the ball stays close.
Moves at game speed
Pick two moves and master them, for example the drop of the shoulder and the La Croqueta. Two moves you trust beat ten you do not.
